Christmas
comes early for Chattanooga
musician Dan Landrum
Local artist "discovered" while
performing on
Aquarium Plaza - will tour with Yanni in 2003
CHATTANOOGA,
Tenn. (Nov. 22) - Many Chattanooga residents and visitors enjoy
the beautiful music of Dan Landrum but in early 2003 he will
take the sound of the hammered dulcimer to audiences world wide.
It
was a summer afternoon and Landrum was entertaining the crowds
in front of the Tennessee Aquarium. A young man in the crowd listened
to his music, asked several interesting questions, then bought
a CD. Landrum said he didn't think much about this until the man
returned.
"He
said he wanted to buy a second CD so he could send it to his boss,
Yanni, to hear," Landrum said. "I thought, 'sure.'"
Landrum's
skepticism vanished when he received a call in July from Anthony
Stevil, Yanni's production manager. Stevil asked Landrum if he
would be interested in auditioning for the chance to participate
in Yanni's 2003 world tour.
Landrum
made a trip to Palm Beach, Fla., for the audition and was quickly
singed to the world tour that begins March 2003. Although tour
dates and cities have not been announced, Landrum said excitement
is building for this event.
Come
congratulate Landrum and enjoy his music on Dec. 7 and 8, in
the Tennessee Aquarium auditorium. Concerts are scheduled for
11:30 a.m., 1, 3 and 4:30 p.m. The concerts are free with
Aquarium admission. Landrum will perform holiday favorites and
selections from his new CD, "Face the Strings."
